Voice of the Month
May Edition – Tenisha “Trailblazer” Noel

Tenisha Trailblazer Noel
I remind them that this is your life, you may not control every circumstance, but you’re still the one running the game. You don’t need a title to lead or a perfect plan to start. Your story, your struggles, and your passion are powerful tools for change. Start small, stay grounded, and never underestimate the impact of showing up as your full, authentic self. That’s where real leadership begins.

I’m Tenisha “Trailblazer” Noel, a community advocate, legal scholar, and founder of TrailblazerTenisha. I champion racial justice, youth empowerment, and educational equity, especially for Black youth navigating systemic barriers. My work blends research, mentorship, and advocacy to create inclusive spaces where underrepresented voices are seen, heard, and uplifted.
Through TrailblazerTenisha, I teach youth personal and professional development rooted in lived experience and practical tools. I recently launched Cultivating Tomorrow’s Leaders, a program designed to help marginalized youth build confidence, leadership skills, and career readiness. I created what I wish I had, because I didn’t have the tools I knew I needed to succeed, but I found a methodology behind the madness and now I’m passing that blueprint on.
As a Black woman from a low-income, single-parent household, I’ve carried the weight of multiple identities that systems often overlook. Through my intersectionality, I was told, both directly and indirectly, that I’d be nothing more than a statistic. But I refused to let others define my worth. I used every barrier as motivation to break glass ceilings and shatter the labels placed on me before anyone took the time to know me.
My family and friends motivate me to keep growing; my community reminds me to keep striving; and my younger self pushes me to keep going beyond bold, because she always believed I could. My goal is to become a professor, a social entrepreneur, and to open my own nonprofit that supports Caribbean youth both in Canada and back home, bridging identity, opportunity, and empowerment.
